It all started back in the mid 80’s when the music was great and the fashion was questionable!!

Two of us were big fans of Blue Peter and sticky back plastic and for the other one it was a case of glue sniffing.

I’ll explain – Roy and I started in sales at a company called Ademco in High Wycombe on the very same day and have been together virtually ever since – some say we’re like an old married couple – which could be true, as we bicker a lot!

Ademco was a great company, the forerunner to all suppliers of mounting and laminating products (sticky back plastic) in the market place today which gave us both a fantastic start to a career in an industry that we all love and are very passionate about. From there, it was Hot Press for Roy and Morane for me before I realised that I missed him so much that I had to join Hot Press myself. After a time we parted, Roy to Elaco and me to Neschen, before joining back up at Drytac 5 years ago.

Steve, on the other hand, was the clever one and started his career as a development chemist for Industrial Adhesives Ltd, but before the glue got too much for him he wisely moved into sales in the self-adhesive and label industry. Next came Tullis Russell Coaters which is where the three of us met as Tullis Russell owned Hot Press at the time. We have been friends ever since and colleagues for the last four years when Steve joined me and Roy at Drytac.

So this brings us almost up to date. I left Drytac back in September to start my own company  DTL Supplies, Dickie The Leek (I’m Welsh) which was my old Ademco nickname, Roy being known as ‘Trigger’ throughout our industry! Luck came my way after a few months of setting up DTL Supplies, when both Roy and Steve were sadly made redundant by Drytac, as it’s enabled me to bring them in as partners within the business.
